When considering private rehab options in Australia, cost is a common question.

Everything from accommodation and meals to counselling, group programs, and offsite activities is included with no hidden costs — all within a trusted drug rehab and rehab facility setting.

You won’t be billed for any small extras or be sold into other courses — just one excellent addiction treatment package for an upfront price. Full payment in advance is required to reserve your place in the program.

Rehab Cost FAQ

  • There is a minimum stay of 28 days.

    Some guests choose to stay up to 84 days depending on their addiction treatment needs and personal goals.

    • Your own room with ensuite and air conditioning

    • Luxury Urban Rituelle shampoo, conditioner, hand & body wash

    • All meals

    • All off-site activities

    • All onsite medical visits (as per medical issues disclosed)

    • All psychology and counselling sessions

    • Yoga, group fitness and exercise program

    • Education program

    • Significant unexpected medical needs or medical evacuation expenses

    • Any prescription medicines or pharmaceutical items and health supplements required during your stay

  • DVA covers most (or all) of the costs for veterans. Our team supports veterans seeking mental health rehab and addiction recovery in a structured environment.

  • There are several things you can do if you're unable to afford the cost.

    • Participate in a non-residential recovery program in your area – such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, or Smart Recovery.

    • Discuss options with your GP.

    • You may be able to access funds from your superannuation (on compassionate grounds). Apply directly to the ATO for free or get ReleaseMySuper to help (for a fee).

    Seek a bed at a public rehab centre. Southern Highlands operates independent of government funding, but there are a number of low-cost, government-funded drug treatment services.

  • Guests might be able to access some of their superannuation funds (on compassionate grounds) to pay for private rehab. You can either:

    1. Complete the application form yourself. The ATO can assist with related enquiries. Or,

    2. Ask a company, such as releasemysuper, to prepare the application for you for a fee.

    Note: a letter from a psychiatrist is required as part of the application process for the ATO.

    Due to potential conflicts of interest, the Southern Highlands Addiction Retreat cannot process superannuation requests. Southern Highlands Addiction Retreat does not promote the use of superannuation funds for treatment and does not provide any financial or legal advice.

    Guests are strongly encouraged to seek independent financial and legal advice before making any decisions regarding the use of their superannuation funds.

  • We appreciate that discretion is important to executives or high profile individuals.

    To help protect your privacy, your stay can be billed as mental health, stress or burnout.

  • Yes, we offer an aftercare program with ongoing group support or 1 on 1 support.

    Our outpatient services are tailored to ensure long-term success beyond your stay.

  • Our program supports individuals struggling with a wide range of issues including alcohol addiction, drug addiction, heroin addiction, cocaine addiction, and substance abuse.

  • Both inpatient rehab and outpatient rehab have unique benefits. Inpatient offers a fully immersive recovery environment, while outpatient treatment allows more flexibility.

  • Private rehab is generally not fully covered by Medicare or private health insurance in Australia. Some private health funds may provide limited rebates for certain aspects of treatment, depending on your level of cover and policy.

    We are happy to provide information regarding our costs and services, but for specific information regarding private health fund rebates or any other coverage details, please contact your insurance company directly.
